Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-02-19
This Privacy Policy explains how ilookpdf (“we”, “us”, “our”)
collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our QR code generator/converter (the “Service”).
Quick summary
- We generate QR codes from the data you provide (e.g., Link, Text, Email, Phone, Wi-Fi, V-card, etc.).
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can control what you enter—QR codes may contain sensitive data, so use care.
1) What this Service does
The Service converts user-provided information into QR codes. Supported QR code types may include:
Link (URL), Text, E-mail, Location, Phone, SMS, WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom, Wi-Fi, V-card, Event,
PayPal, and Bitcoin.
The QR code content is created based on what you type or paste. The QR code may be downloaded or shared by you.
2) Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide (QR content)
When you use the Service, you may enter information that is encoded into a QR code, such as:
- Link (URL) (a website address)
- Text (any text you type)
- E-mail (email address, subject, message)
- Location (address or coordinates)
- Phone / SMS (phone number and optional message)
- WhatsApp / Skype / Zoom (usernames, phone numbers, meeting links or IDs)
- Wi-Fi (network name/SSID, security type, password)
- V-card (name, phone, email, company, address, etc.)
- Event (event title, time, location, details)
- PayPal / Bitcoin (payment addresses, amounts, notes)
Important: QR codes are designed to be read by others. If you include sensitive information
(like a Wi-Fi password, personal phone number, or payment address), anyone with access to the QR code can read it.
Please only encode information you’re comfortable sharing.
2.2 Automatically collected information (usage data)
Like most websites, we may automatically collect limited information when you visit, such as:
device type, browser type, approximate location (derived from IP address), pages viewed, timestamps,
and basic diagnostic/log data (e.g., error logs).
2.3 Cookies and similar technologies
We may use cookies or similar technologies to:
remember preferences, help the Service function, measure performance, and improve the user experience.
You can control cookies through your browser settings.
3) How we use information
- To generate QR codes based on your inputs.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service (e.g., fix bugs, prevent abuse).
- To analyze usage trends and performance.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4) Do we store the QR content you enter?
Default approach: We aim to process QR inputs to generate the code and do not require you to
create an account.
Depending on how the Service is built, QR input data may be processed:
(a) locally in your browser (client-side), or
(b) on our servers (server-side) to generate the QR image.
If server-side processing is used, we may temporarily process and cache requests to deliver the QR code and protect
against abuse. We do not intentionally store QR content longer than necessary for providing the Service,
unless you use an optional feature that requires saving (for example, an account dashboard or “saved QR” feature).
If you want this section to be stricter, change it to: “All QR generation happens in your browser and we do not
receive or store the content you enter.” Only say that if it’s true for your site.
5) Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited cases:
-
Service providers: Hosting, analytics, security, and infrastructure providers that help us run
the Service. They are permitted to use data only to provide services to us.
-
Legal compliance: If required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and
prevent fraud or abuse.
-
Business transfers: If we’re involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may
be transferred as part of that transaction.
6) Third-party links and QR destinations
Your QR codes may link to third-party services (e.g., PayPal links, WhatsApp links, Zoom links, websites).
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Review their policies before sharing data.
7) Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information.
However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please avoid encoding highly sensitive information
into QR codes.
8) Data retention
We retain automatically collected usage data for as long as needed to operate and improve the Service, comply with
legal obligations, and enforce our agreements. If QR content is processed server-side, we retain it (if at all)
only for as long as necessary to provide the Service and prevent abuse.
9) Your choices
- Do not submit sensitive data: You control what you encode.
- Cookies: You can disable cookies in your browser settings.
- Analytics opt-out: If we use analytics, you may be able to opt out via provider settings.
10) Children’s privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction) and we do not
knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal information,
contact us to request deletion.
11) International users
If you access the Service from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be
processed and stored in that country, which may have different data protection laws.
12) Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the
“Effective date” above.
